To earn the Certified Financial PlannerTM, CFP® certificate a candidate must have at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and three years of full-time financial planning experience, complete a final certificate examination, and complete thirty hours of continuing education every two years. All CFP® professionals agree to abide by CFP Board’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility and Financial Planning Practice Standards and have voluntarily submitted to the regulatory authority of CFP Board, which can suspend or permanently revoke an individual’s CFP® certification if findings of unethical conduct are made.

(CFP Board) owns the certification marks CFP®, Certified Financial Planner ™, and CFP® (with plaque design) in the United States, which it authorizes use of by individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.

CHARTERED FINANCIAL ANALYST®, CFA®

The Chartered Financial Analyst®, CFA® Program is a globally recognized standard for measuring the competence and integrity of financial analysts. To become a Chartered Financial Analyst® professional, a candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of investment-related experience and pass three sequential, six-hour examinations over two years to four years. The three levels of the CFA® program test a wide range of investment topics, including ethical and professional standards, investment analysis and wealth planning. All CFA® professionals must have at least four years of professional experience and reaffirm annually their adherence to the CFA Institute’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.

The Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFA Institute) owns the certification marks CFA® and Chartered Financial Analyst® in the United States, which it authorizes use of by individuals who successfully complete CFA Institute’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.

CHARTERED FINANCIAL CONSULTANT®, CHFC®

To earn the Chartered Financial Consultant®, ChFC® designation a candidate must complete an extensive education program, examinations, practical experience and ongoing continuing education requirements. All ChFC® professionals must adhere to strict ethical guidelines set by The American College of Financial Services® and complete a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education every two years.

CERTIFIED PRIVATE WEALTH ADVISOR®, CPWA®

The Certified Private Wealth Advisor®, CPWA® designation is an advanced certification for advisors who work with high-net-worth clients. To earn the CPWA® designation a candidate must have at least five years of professional experience in finance or a related industry, a bachelor’s degree or other professional certification, and a satisfactory record of ethical conduct as determined by the Investments & Wealth Institute™. A candidate must complete six months of studying and complete an in-person or online class and take the CPWA® examination. CPWA® members must complete 40 hours of continuing education every two years.

The Investments & Wealth Institute® (the Institute) is the owner of the certification marks “Certified Private Wealth Advisor” and “CPWA.” Use of Certified Private Wealth Advisor and/or CPWA signifies that the used has successfully completed the Institute’s initial and ongoing credentialing requirements for investment management professionals. 

CERTIFIED DIVORCE FINANCIAL ANALYST®, CDFA®

To earn the CDFA® certificate issued by the Institute for Divorce Financial AnalystsTM; qualifications for CDFA® include: three years of professional experience in finance or divorce and a bachelor’s degree; the passage of four online, proctored, closed book certification exams; and 15 divorce-related hours of continuing education every two years.

The Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts (the Institute) owns the certification marks CDFA® and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® in the United States, which it authorizes use of by individuals who successfully complete the Institute’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.

ACCREDITED WEALTH MANAGEMENT ADVISORSM, AWMA®

To earn the AWMA® designation a candidate must complete an eight-module education program within one year provided by the College for Financial Planning®. AWMA® professionals must complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
